New Rock Capital Partners (“New Rock”) was founded in 2016 by Bennett Kim. Mr. Kim has over 20 years of experience in the senior housing and senior care industries.

In addition to his role as the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of New Rock, Mr. Kim is a Managing Partner of Big Rock Senior Housing (BRSH). Through an affiliate of BRSH, Mr. Kim is also the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Big Rock Partners Acquisition Corp. (Nasdaq: BRPA), a publicly traded Special Purpose Acquisition Company formed to acquire companies in the senior care and healthcare sectors.

BRSH is a national leader in developing large upscale senior housing rental communities that consist of independent living, assisted living, and memory care. BRSH has developed and is currently developing approximately $1 billion of senior housing communities.

Prior to BRSH, Mr. Kim was the Head of Acquisitions for Carefree Communities, then the fifth largest national owner and operator of manufactured housing communities and RV parks. Prior to Carefree Mr. Kim was the Chief Investment Officer at Big Rock Partners (BRP). BRP is an opportunistic real estate investment firm that invested in and managed over $800 million in assets including 18 senior housing communities.

Prior to BRP, Mr. Kim was a Vice President at Apollo Real Estate Advisors, where he helped turn around Summerville Senior Living (“Summerville), one of the largest privately-held senior housing operators in the nation at that time. Summerville was eventually sold to Emeritus Senior Living, and Emeritus was sold to Brookdale Senior Living.

Mr. Kim was also an Assistant Vice President at Oaktree Capital Management, an Associate at Merrill Lynch Real Estate Investment Banking, a Senior Analyst at Walt Disney Imagineering and an Analyst at Disney Development Company.

In 2006, Institutional Investor News selected Mr. Kim as one of “The 20 Rising Stars of Real Estate” in the nation. Mr. Kim graduated with an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.A. in Economics from UCLA.
